Frequently Asked Questions

Premium Room (Superior) FAQs

What does the Premium Room (Superior) at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum look out on?
The room has a private balcony with open views across the resort. It is a resort-view room rather than a dedicated ocean-view category, so it suits guests who plan to spend their days at the beach and pools rather than on the balcony. The resort sits on a roughly half-mile stretch of white-sand beach.
How are the beds arranged, and who does the room sleep comfortably?
The room is offered with 1 King Bed or 2 Double Beds and sleeps up to 3 guests. The king suits a couple. The two doubles work better for three guests, such as a parent with a child or friends travelling together. A free crib is available for infants, and connecting rooms can be arranged for larger groups.
What is included in the rate for guests in the Premium Room?
You stay on the resort's 24-hour all-inclusive plan. It covers unlimited drinks at the lobby and pool bars, sports, fitness and yoga classes, non-motorised water sports and the Kids Zone water park. It also includes three à la carte dinner reservations per week, the in-room minibar and safe, and one free hour a day of paddle surf, kayaks, tennis and snorkeling gear, subject to availability. Spa treatments are paid separately, as are telephone calls, laundry and premium Wi-Fi.
Is the Premium Room a good choice for families?
Yes. The resort is family-oriented, and this room offers a free crib, two double beds for three guests, and connecting rooms for groups. Children can use the Zama Fun water park, and a supervised Mini-Club for ages 4–12 and a Teen's Club are on offer. Babysitting for ages 2–12 costs extra. The beachfront can have steady waves, so younger children usually do better in the pools.
What can I use in the room for working or relaxing?
The room has a desk with laptop workspace, a sitting area, an LCD TV with satellite channels, a coffee/tea maker and free bottled water. Air conditioning, a ceiling fan and blackout drapes let you set the temperature and light. A safe, wardrobe, iron and ironing board and phone are also provided. Free Wi-Fi is offered throughout the resort, and room service is available.
What are the dining options, and do I need to book restaurants?
The Yucatan Restaurant is the main buffet and needs no reservation. Specialty restaurants include Don Pablo, Tequila, Mikado and Thali. Tequila, Don Pablo and Mikado require reservations, and dress codes apply, so use your three à la carte dinners per week with some planning. Footwear and a cover-up or shirt are required at buffets.
How far is Bahia Principe Grand Tulum from the airport, and what are the check-in times?
Cancún International Airport is roughly an hour and a quarter by car. Tulum International Airport is closer, about 41 km away. Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and check-out is at noon. The main guest must be at least 18 to check in.
What should I know about the location and the resort before booking?
Despite the "Tulum" name, the resort is in Akumal, roughly halfway between Akumal Beach and Tulum town. Akumal Beach, known for turtle snorkeling, is about a 10-minute drive, and the Tulum ruins are about 22 km away. Raccoons, coatimundis and other wildlife roam the grounds, and guests are asked not to feed them. Pets are not allowed.
