Frequently Asked Questions

Family Suite FAQs

Does the Family Suite at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum have a balcony?
Yes. The suite has a private balcony with resort views, giving your family a little outdoor space attached to the room. It is a balcony rather than a plunge pool or swim-out terrace.
How are the beds arranged and how many people does the Family Suite sleep?
The bedroom has one king bed, and the suite is rated to sleep up to 5 guests. A free crib is available for infants. For larger groups, connecting rooms are available.
How big is the Family Suite and how is it laid out?
The suite measures 814 sq. ft. and is a one-bedroom layout. A separate sitting area, desk, laptop workspace and wardrobe or closet give the family room to spread out. Blackout drapes, air conditioning and a ceiling fan help with sleeping and naps.
What is included for guests staying in the Family Suite?
Your stay is 24-hour all-inclusive. That covers unlimited drinks at the lobby and pool bars, free Wi-Fi, fitness and yoga classes, non-motorized water sports and the Kids Zone water park. Standard inclusions also list three à la carte dinner reservations per week of stay, and one hour a day of paddle surf, kayaks, tennis and snorkeling gear, subject to availability. Spa treatments, laundry, phone calls, premium Wi-Fi and babysitting are charged separately.
Is the Family Suite a good choice for families with young children?
Yes, it is built for it. The resort is family-oriented and the suite offers a free crib, connecting rooms and a separate sitting area. The resort also has a Mini-Club for ages 4–12, a Teen's Club and the Zama Fun children's water park. Babysitting is available for ages 2–12 for an extra charge. The beachfront has open Caribbean waves that can run rough, so younger children may prefer the pools.
What can I use in the room itself?
The suite has an LCD TV with satellite channels, a coffee/tea maker, a minibar, free bottled water, room service, a safe, a phone, an iron and ironing board, and free Wi-Fi. Housekeeping is daily.
Where can the family eat, and do we need reservations?
The Yucatan Restaurant is the main international buffet and needs no reservation. Tequila, Don Pablo and Mikado require reservations, and dress codes apply at several of them. Other options include Thali (Indian), Portofino (Italian) and Gran Tortuga (Brazilian grill). For casual daytime bites, The Truck and Andale Burger are near the beach and pool area. Footwear and a cover-up or shirt are required at buffets.
What are check-in and check-out times, and how far is the airport?
Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM. The main guest checking in must be at least 18. Cancún International Airport is roughly 1 hour 15–20 minutes away by car or private transfer, and Tulum International Airport is about 41 km away. The resort is in Akumal, between Akumal Beach and Tulum on Highway 307, and Akumal Beach's turtle snorkeling is about a 10-minute drive.
