The resort has a roughly half-mile stretch of white-sand beach and three or four outdoor pools. These include a main pool with a swim-up bar, a quieter Jacuzzi pool and the Zama Fun water park. For dining, Yucatan Restaurant is the main buffet and needs no reservation. Specialty options include Thali (Indian), Don Pablo (gourmet), Tequila (Mexican), Gran Tortuga (Brazilian grill), Mikado (teppanyaki and sushi) and Portofino (Italian). Some of these require reservations, and a dress code applies at several. The Truck serves casual fare on the beach during the day.
Where is Bahia Principe Grand Tulum, and what is there to do nearby?
The resort is on the Chetumal–Cancún highway in Akumal, roughly halfway between Akumal Beach and Tulum. Akumal Beach, known for snorkeling with sea turtles, is about a 10-minute drive away. The Tulum ruins are about 22 km away, and Dos Ojos cenote is a 15–20 minute drive. Cancún Airport is about 1 hour 15–20 minutes by car, and Tulum's airport is about 41 km away. Airport shuttles usually carry a surcharge.
What are the check-in and check-out times, and is there anything else to know before booking?
Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM. The main guest must be at least 18, and pets are not allowed. A card or cash deposit and photo ID may be requested at check-in for incidentals. The resort was comprehensively renovated and reopened in November 2020. Wildlife such as raccoons, coatimundis and agoutis roam the grounds, and guests are asked not to feed them.
