Frequently Asked Questions

Junior Room FAQs

What does the Junior Room at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum look out on?
The room has a private balcony overlooking the resort grounds. It is a place to sit outside with a morning coffee from the in-room coffee/tea maker. The view is of the grounds rather than the sea, so choose this room for its size and value rather than for an ocean outlook.
How are the beds arranged, and how many people can the Junior Room sleep?
The room has 2 Double Beds and sleeps up to 4 guests in a single bedroom of 407 sq. ft. A free crib is available for families with a baby. Connecting rooms are also available for groups that want adjoining space.
What is the bathroom like in the Junior Room?
It is a private bathroom with a jetted bathtub and a shower/bathtub combination with a rainfall showerhead. Free toiletries, shampoo, soap, towels, toilet paper and a hair dryer are provided. Toothbrush and toothpaste are not supplied, so pack your own.
What is included with a Junior Room stay?
Your stay is 24-hour all-inclusive. It covers unlimited drinks at the lobby and pool bars, sports, fitness and yoga activities, and non-motorized water sports. The standard inclusions also list three à la carte dinner reservations per week of stay and free one-hour-a-day use of paddle surf, kayaks, tennis and snorkeling gear, subject to availability. The free Kids Zone water park is included too. Spa treatments, laundry, phone calls, premium Wi-Fi and babysitting are paid separately.
Is the Junior Room a good choice for families?
Yes. The resort is family-oriented, and the room sleeps four, offers a free crib and has connecting rooms. Children's options include the Zama Fun water park, a Mini-Club for ages 4–12 and a Teen's Club. Babysitting for ages 2–12 is available for an extra charge. The beachfront faces open Caribbean trade winds, so waves can be rough for small children. The calmer pools are better for little ones.
What comforts and technology come with the room?
You get an LCD TV with satellite channels, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, blackout drapes, a coffee/tea maker and free bottled water. The room also has a safe, a desk and laptop workspace, a phone, an iron and ironing board, and room service. Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout the hotel, with a paid premium upgrade for those who want it.
Where is Bahia Principe Grand Tulum, and how long is the transfer from the airport?
The resort is on Highway 307 in Akumal, Quintana Roo, roughly halfway between Akumal Beach and Tulum. From Cancún International Airport the drive is typically about 1 hour 16–22 minutes. Tulum International Airport is nearer, at about 41 km. Akumal Beach, known for sea-turtle snorkeling, is a short drive of roughly 4–10 minutes. The Tulum ruins are about 22 km away.
What dining can I expect, and are there dress codes?
The Yucatan Restaurant is the main international buffet and needs no reservation. Specialty options include Tequila, Don Pablo, Mikado, Portofino and the Gran Tortuga Brazilian grill. Reservations are required at several of them, including Tequila, Don Pablo and Mikado. Footwear and a cover-up or shirt are required at buffet restaurants, and some à la carte venues ask for long pants or a semi-formal look. The Truck serves casual beach fare by day.
What are check-in and check-out times, and what else should I know before booking?
Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM. The main guest must be at least 18, and a card or deposit for incidentals plus photo ID may be requested at check-in. Pets are not allowed. Raccoons, coatimundis and other wildlife roam the grounds, so please do not feed them. The resort reopened in November 2020 after a full renovation.
