Frequently Asked Questions

Premium Room (Superior 2+2) FAQs

How are the beds arranged in the Premium Room (Superior 2+2) and how many people does it sleep?
The room is set up with 1 King Bed or 2 Double Beds and sleeps up to 4 guests in 407 sq. ft. Choose the king for a couple or the two doubles for a family or two pairs of guests. A free crib is available for younger children, and connecting rooms can be arranged if your group needs more space.
Does the Premium Room at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum have a balcony?
Yes, the room opens onto a private balcony, so you have outdoor space of your own. The outlook depends on where in the resort your room is located, so the balcony is best thought of as an extra place to sit rather than a guaranteed view.
What is the bathroom like in this room?
It is a private bathroom with a jetted bathtub and a shower/bathtub combination with a rainfall showerhead. Towels, soap, shampoo, free toiletries and a hair dryer are provided. Toothbrushes and toothpaste are not supplied, so pack your own.
What is included in the rate for guests staying in this room?
Your stay is 24-hour all-inclusive. It covers unlimited drinks at the lobby and pool bars, the resort's restaurants and entertainment program, non-motorized water sports, fitness and yoga activities, and the free Kids Zone water park. The package also includes 3 à la carte dinner reservations per week of stay. It also includes a free hour a day of paddle surf, kayaks, tennis or snorkeling gear, subject to availability. Spa treatments are paid separately, as are phone calls, laundry and premium Wi-Fi.
What in-room comforts should I expect?
The room has air conditioning and a ceiling fan, plus blackout drapes for sleeping in. You also get an LCD TV with satellite channels, a coffee/tea maker, complimentary bottled water, a minibar, an in-room safe and room service. For longer stays there is a desk, an iron and ironing board, a wardrobe and daily housekeeping. Free Wi-Fi is offered throughout the resort.
Is the Premium Room a good choice for families, or better for couples?
With space for four, a free crib, connecting rooms and Bahia Principe Grand Tulum being a family-oriented resort, this room suits families and small groups well. The resort offers a Mini-Club for ages 4–12, a Teen's Club and the Zama Fun children's water park. Babysitting for ages 2–12 is available for an extra charge. Couples can choose the king bed and use the quieter pool with its Jacuzzi and solarium area, which has no swim-up bar or entertainment.
What are the beach and pools like?
The resort sits on a roughly half-mile stretch of white-sand beach. It faces open Caribbean waters, so the waves can be rough and consistent, and young children may prefer the pools. There are 3 to 4 outdoor pools, including a main pool with a swim-up bar (about 1.35 m deep), a quieter Jacuzzi pool and the Zama Fun water park with a slow river. Lively areas such as the La Isla Bar DJ zone and the swim-up bars are the noisier parts of the grounds, while the quiet pool is the calmer choice.
Where can we eat, and do we need reservations?
Yucatan Restaurant is the main buffet, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and needs no reservation. Specialty dining includes Thali (Indian), Don Pablo (gourmet), Tequila (Mexican), Mikado (sushi and teppanyaki), Portofino (Italian) and the Gran Tortuga Brazilian grill. Some of these require reservations and dress codes, such as long pants and a sleeved shirt for gentlemen at Don Pablo. Buffets require footwear and a shirt or cover-up. The Truck, on the beach, serves casual Mexican fare by day.
Where is the hotel, and what should I know about arrival?
Despite the name, Bahia Principe Grand Tulum is in Akumal, on Highway 307 about halfway between Akumal Beach and Tulum town. Akumal Beach, known for sea-turtle snorkeling, is roughly a 10-minute drive away, and the Tulum ruins are about 22 km away. Cancún Airport is about 1 hour 15 minutes by car, and Tulum International Airport is about 41 km away. Check-in starts at 3:00 PM, check-out is at noon, and the main guest must be at least 18.
